ศ.ดร.ไกรสิทธิ์ ตันติศิรินทร์
KRAISID TONTISIRIN is an Emeritus Professor, Mahidol University. He is currently, the Chairman of the Policy Board of the Thai Research Fund, a Resource person of the National Food Committee and was the Chairman of Planning Committee to prepare the Strategic Framework for Food Management in Thailand (SFFM) approved by the Cabinet in 2010. He is also a member of the Agriculture Product Standards Committee, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. Prof. Kraisid Tontisirin served as the Director of Food and Nutrition Division, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy from 2000-2006, the Director of the Institute of Nutrition Mahidol University from 1991 to 1999 and the Vice President of Mahidol University on Planning and Research from 1987-1991.
His education and training included, M.D. with honor from Mahidol University, PhD in Nutrition from M.I.T.
He was honored numerous awards including the Distinguished Alumni from Faculty of Science and from Siriraj Medical Faculty, Mahidol University, the Most Distinguished Thai of the Year in 1999 from the Royal Thai Government, Dusadee Mala Kem Silapa Vithaya (the most distinguished medal in recognition of the contribution in art and science for Thailand) from His Majesty the King in 2005, and Breast Feeding Promotion Award from UNICEF and Ministry of Health. He also received the American Dietetic Association’s Frances E Fischer Lecture Award giving the lecture on “Strategies and actions for prevention and control of double burden of malnutrition” at the 15th International Congress of Dietetics, Yokohama, Japan in August 2008. Recently, in September 2013 at the 19th International Congress of Nutrition, he received the “The 2013 IUNS Lifetime Achievement Award” from the International Union of Nutritional Science. This award has been given every 4 year to a person who has exceptionally contribution in nutrition at national, regional and global levels, Sep 12, 2014.
