Thai Union donates 50,000+ food servings to communities impacted by the third wave of COVID-19

Bangkok – May 17, 2021 – Thai Union Group has donated more than 50,000 servings of food to government agencies, hospitals and a foundation for humanitarian relief to provide support for those caring for patients with COVID -19.

These donations, which continue Thai Union’s commitment to supporting people and communities where it operates, includes more than 48,000 cans of SEALECT products and 2,000 sets of frozen ready-to-eat meals.

With Thailand facing a third wave of the virus, Thai Union provided the healthy and nutritious products for donation through the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Thai Department of

Physical Education, the Medical Service Department, Thammasat University Hospital, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Siriraj Hospital, and the Duang Prateep Foundation.

“Thai Union is committed to supporting the people and local communities where we operate, and the impact of COVID-19 on local communities in Thailand has been immense, so it’s important that we not only support them but also the medical teams that are working incredibly hard to care for and support patients with the virus,’ said Thiraphong Chansiri, Thai Union’s CEO.

These Thai Union donations will support medical and other related teams caring for patients who are recovering from the virus in Bangkok and regional areas of Thailand, along with people in local communities impacted by COVID-19.

This latest round of food donations continues Thai Union’s 2020 work towards the United Nations Development Goals (UN SDGs), including SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, where the company made product donations to communities around the world to help ease the burden that the pandemic had placed on so many people. This included more than 3-million servings of the company’s products globally in 2020.

“All of us at Thai Union also recognize the many frontline heroes and we will continue to do what we can so that we can overcome this challenging situation together soon, as we are always better together,” Chansiri said.
