Statement Regarding the Re-opening of Pioneer Food Cannery

As announced in our statement on 12th May, 2020, following the discovery of a confirmed case of COVID-19 among our workforce on 17th April, 2020, Pioneer Food Cannery (PFC), Ghana was immediately closed on a temporary basis for disinfection and cleaning, as well as any necessary self-quarantining of staff and tracing of contacts to identify any potential risks. These efforts were carried out in collaboration with the local health and government authorities. During the closure of PFC, we facilitated COVID-19 testing and multiple rounds of re-testing of our employees, working alongside the local health authorities.

This testing showed that we have significantly lower numbers of positive cases than initially indicated and reported. We are therefore very pleased to announce that, in consultation with the authorities, we resumed operations on Monday, 18th May with limited production capacity. We will continue to ramp up production until we are operating at full strength again.

We would like to thank our staff for their continued support and patience, and cooperation with all protocols and guidelines. We are also thankful to the local authorities for their work during this process. We would also like to express our gratitude to our valued customers for their understanding as we have engaged in solving these issues.
