SEALECT, Along with Parent Company Thai Union, Organizes Football Experience for Children TU Care Center with Legendary Premier League Footballers in Bangkok

SEALECT, along with parent company Thai Union Group Public Company (TU) Limited, organised a football clinic session, which was held by legendary premier league footballers Dietmar Hamann, Jari Littmanen and Stephane Henchoz, for children from the TU Child Care Centers. The event was arranged to inspire the children to participate in sports such as football and was held on November 17th 2015 at Crystal Football Club in Bangkok.

The children, aged between 8-12 years old, were given to opportunity to learn first-hand coaching techniques from the legendary players Dietmar (Didi) Hamann and Jari Litmanen; former midfielder’s for Liverpool Football Club and former footballer defender for the same team, Stephane Henchoz. The players spent two hours with the children, who were taught how to practice ball juggling and a combination of short and long-shooting techniques. The children given tips as to how to become a professional footballer, with the former Premier League players citing the importance of practice and perseverance. At the end of the football clinic, the footballers went on to show the children how to cook a healthy Thai omelette using SEALECT tuna to keep their energy up after their exercise.

It is important to encourage children to get involved with these activities, as they encourage confidence, teamwork and academic success. Alongside our parent company, TU, SEALECT is keen to continue to promote any initiative that can contribute to the happiness and well-being of children from all backgrounds and nationalities. This includes programs such as the TU Child Care Center, where the children who took part in the football clinic were from. The care centers were launched in 2013 so that children could be equipped with the language and cultural skills they will need before entering into the official Thai education system (from level 1 onwards). Thai Union has committed THB 10million to establishing these care centers. Two have already been built in Samut Sakhon, with the aim to complete a total of five by 2017.
