Thai Union Selected as a Winner of 2017 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards

15 November 2017, Bangkok — Thai Union is honored to be named a winner of the 2017 SEAL Business Sustainability Awards for Organizational Impact. The SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement and Leadership) Awards recognizes organizations and leaders dedicated to making real progress on sustainable development and environmental issues.

SEAL Award winners are determined by a holistic methodology measuring applicants against established benchmark metrics that demonstrate true impact and progress towards a healthy planet and a sustainable future. Key criteria for this selection included: corporate governance, corporate sustainability strategy, supply chain initiatives, disclosure and accountability, sustainability performance metrics, and corporate citizenship and engagement.

“As one of the largest seafood companies in the world, Thai Union has fully embraced our role as a leader for positive change. This means putting sustainability at the heart of our business, “said Darian McBain, Thai Union’s global director for sustainable development. “The people at Thai Union are working every day to ensure the company values we embrace are being translated into real and demonstrable change for good.”

This is the sixth time Thai Union has been honored for its sustainability efforts in the past month. On 9 November, the company received the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s (SET) 2017 ‘Outstanding’ Sustainability Award and was listed in the SET’s 2017 Thailand Sustainability Investment Index (THSI). Thai Union was named one of the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards winners for Top Corporate Social Responsibility Advocates on 30 October in Singapore. It was also “highly commended” for Sustainability Report of the Year and Sustainability Leader of the Year (Darian McBain) at the Ethical Corporation’s Eighth Annual Responsible Business Awards on 16 October in London. On 25 October the edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2018 announced it nominated Thai Union’s McBain for Leader of the Year.
