Following its global expansion, Thai Union entered a transformative phase focused on innovation, sustainability, and responsible growth. This era is defined by the launch and scaling of the SeaChange® strategy, a comprehensive sustainability roadmap that integrates environmental stewardship, ethical sourcing, and social responsibility across all operations. The company invested heavily in a global transformation program and innovative blue finance instruments. Thai Union also expanded its portfolio with value-added and health-focused products, positioning itself as a global leader in marine health and nutrition.

2015
The company launches the Global Innovation Centre to drive innovation with cutting-edge products and technologies.

2016
Thai Union advanced its sustainability efforts through SeaChange® 2030. First introduced in 2016, SeaChange® sustainability strategy aims to drive positive change in the seafood industry. As climate change increasingly threatens vital ecosystems, Thai Union launched SeaChange® 2030, with commitments across our value chain aiming to transform the seafood industry with solutions that benefit both people and the planet.
2019
Thai Union co-founds SPACE-F, Thailand’s first global food-tech startup incubator and accelerator, in collaboration with the National Innovation Agency and Mahidol University. SPACE-F provides mentorship, business connections,and co-working opportunities for food-tech startups.

2020
Thai Union introduced the Tuna Commitment 2025 to strengthen responsible sourcing across its tuna supply chain. The commitment advances greater transparency and oversight, helping drive more responsible practices that support ocean health and worker welfare.


2020
The company teamed up with Thai Beverage to develop new food and beverage products under the company Food and Beverage United, including the creation of Zea Tuna Essence, a functional beverage made from tuna extract and positioned to support everyday health and wellness.
2021
Thai Union launched a partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to help advance transparency and stronger environmental performance across the seafood value chain. The collaboration supports progress in responsible sourcing and traceability.
2021
Thai Union established Thai Union Lifescience and Thai Union Alternative Protein to meet rising demand for health-focused, more sustainable products, launching the ZEAVITA supplement brand and developing plant-based seafood under private label and OMG Meat.

2022
The momentum continued with several key moves. In Thailand, a new partnership was formed to build a state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse, Pacific Cold Storage. Globally, the company expanded into the Indian market with a new ingredients venture (Srinivasa Cystine), and secured a 50% stake in Aegir Seafood, a leading Icelandic producer of cod liver.

Thai Union opened an Innovation Hub in Wageningen, Netherlands, focusing on product and packaging innovation for the Group’s ambient seafood brands.

Thai Union launched a shrimp decarbonization initiative in Thailand to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the shrimp supply chain.
2024
Thai Union opened a new, state-of-the-art culinary plant to expand ready-to-eat capabilities within its Frozen business. The facility strengthened Thai Union’s ability to develop authentic Asian frozen meals and recipe formulations for customers, delivering consistent quality at scale worldwide.

Thai Union’s John West brand introduced ECOTWIST, a redesigned ambient tuna pack created to reduce packaging weight and improve recyclability.

2025
Thai Union introduced a next-generation collagen peptides ingredient made from the skin of responsibly sourced tuna. ThalaCol™ supports SeaChange® 2030 by helping use more of each fish, reducing food waste, and turning a low-value by-product into a high-value ingredient for health- and beauty-conscious consumers.

2026
Thai Union Graphic, Thai Union’s printing and packaging subsidiary, partnered with Starflex to expand its flexible food packaging capabilities through Star Union Packaging Co. Ltd. The joint venture also supports Thai Union’s SeaChange® 2030 commitment to make 100% of branded packaging reusable, recyclable, or compostable.
