Thai Union donates 10,000 Cans of Bellotta Cat Food to the Rakmaw For Stray Cats Foundation

25 February 2021, BANGKOK ─ Thai Union Group PCL, a leading global seafood company and owner of the Bellotta cat food brand, has donated 10,000 cans of cat food to the Rakmaw For Stray Cats Foundation, which helps sick, injured and needy street cats. The Foundation will distribute the products to other cat shelters, hospitals and temples in Thailand that have seen an increase in needy animals as a result of the resurgence of COVID-19.

Mr. Peter Galli, Global Director of Corporate Communications, and Ms. Sasimon Kiangkitiwan, Assistant Marketing Manager for the Global PetCare Business Unit, represented Thai Union when handing the donation over to Ms. Wachira Thaveesakulsuk, the Foundation’s founder.

“COVID-19 has had a major impact on communities all around the world, not just for people but for animals as well. We all are in the same situation wherever in the world we happen to be, and giving is something we can all be part of. Thai Union’s Pet Care business is committed to being a player in that giving community,” said Pornchai Tatiyachaitaweesuk, Vice President for the Global PetCare Business Unit.

For his part, Galli said that there has been a clear increase in animal hardship as a result of the resurgence of COVID-19, with many people impacted by the pandemic struggling to feed and keep their pets, while the need on the streets continues to grow.

“Many pet shelters are currently struggling to secure food and other supplies to meet this growing need as the number of donations has decreased. This is just another way Thai Union and its Pet Care business continues supporting our local communities - people, their pets and those that take care of our sick and needy street animals,” he said.
