Mahidol University and Thai Union Grant Science Scholarships to International Graduate Students

28 August 2019, Bangkok –Mahidol University has partnered with Thai Union Group PCL to offer a scholarship scheme for international graduate students as part of a science and technology initiative project in human resource development.

The initiative was inspired by Thailand’s late King Rama IX who dedicated his life to the country’s education and development. This year, 11 graduate students from six countries have received funding to study in biochemistry, biotechnology, environmental biology, exercise physiology, forensic science, material science and engineering, microbiology and immunology, plant science, and toxicology.

Associate Professor Sittiwat Lertsiri, Dean of Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, said:

Mahidol University has a very long partnership with Thai Union in terms of R&D activities, technology and knowledge exchange in creating new innovation and technology as well as leading to a contribution in science and technology at national and global levels.”

Tunyawat Kasemsuwan, Group Director, Global Innovation at Thai Union, said:

“Thai Union and Mahidol University have had a great relationship since 2015, when we founded the Global Innovation Incubator. This year, we have strengthened our collaboration together with Thailand’s National Innovation Agency with a project called SPACE-F, where we provide an incubator and accelerator program for foodtech start-ups. It is a great honor for Thai Union to join Mahidol University in providing scholarships for international Master’s degree students in science and technology. Thai Union hopes that these scholarships will truly benefit all students and every sector involved.”
